“This Chinese poem hewn into rock was the seed of this idea, and because the Chinese love to work with vertical formats in much of their art, it felt natural for me to do the same. The composition revolves around the vertical fall of the calligraphy, the cascade of water on the left, and the cascade of blossoms on the right, coming together with our panda at the bottom.”
